Questions players ask

How does the chord identifier name a chord?

It tries each of your notes as the root and checks the set against more than 35 chord types, from major and minor to 7♯9 and 13. The name that explains all of your notes best comes first, preferring the lowest note as the root.

What does a slash chord like C/E mean?

The chord is C major, but the lowest note is E rather than C. The letter after the slash is the bass note.

Why does my chord have two names?

Some sets of notes are two chords at once: A C E G is both Am7 and C6 with A in the bass. The name shown first follows your bass note; the others are listed under it.

What are the cream notes?

Pick a chord under Could become and cream circles show the notes to add to finish a playable shape around the notes you've already placed.
